Facebook Inc FB 4.01% has announced the launch of Facebook Sports Stadium, a new platform dedicated to social media interaction centered around live sports events. According to Facebook product manager Steve Kafka, Sports Stadium is a place that fans can gather online and socialize while watching sports even if they aren’t in the same location.

“People already turn to Facebook to celebrate, commiserate, and talk trash with their friends and other fans,” Kafka explained.

Now, Facebook has provided a single place for Facebook sports fans to congregate online during a game.
