‘M-Commerce’ And Winners Of The On-Demand Economy

Mizuho analyst Neil Doshi just released the results of the firm’s 1,000-person mobile usage survey conducted during the week of June 15-19. The survey shed some light on the latest trends in overall smartphone usage, social media, m-commerce and the on-demand economy.

Here’s a breakdown of the survey results.

Smartphone Usage

According to Doshi, Google Inc GOOG 0.3% GOOGL 0.74% stands out as the clear winner when it comes to smartphone usage. When participants were asked where they go on their devices to find information, Google’s search app (34 percent) and Chrome browser (19 percent) were two of the top three responses. Safari Browser (27 percent) took the second spot.

When asked how they most often use their devices, participants’ top three responses were work apps (such as Microsoft Corporation MSFT 0.1%’s Word and Powerpoint), paid streaming video services (such as Netflix Inc NFLX 0.44% and Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN 0.07% Prime) and streaming music services (such as Spotify and Pandora Media Inc P 1.11%).
