In a new report, Baird analyst William Power takes a look at the results of the firm’s Q1 Netflix, Inc.NFLX 0.61% subscriber survey. According to the survey, Netflix investors should be looking for some strong numbers in Q1.
“Our Q1 U.S. subscriber survey suggests solid U.S. results, likely driven by recent original successes, with the January global launch likely to benefit the international segment,” Power explains.
However, he cautions that price increases could also serve as headwinds to subscriber growth this year. In addition, rising content costs and extremely high international expectations could also limit the stock’s upside from current levels.
In Baird’s most recent subscriber survey, Netflix surpassed 50 percent U.S. penetration, up from the 46-47 percent range in the past couple of quarters. Baird is calling for Q1 net domestic additions of 1.75 million and paid net additions of 2.0 million, both down from 2.3 million and 2.6 million, respectively, in Q1 of 2015.

Want to learn more about how to profit off the stock market? Or maybe you just want to be able to look sophisticated in front of your coworkers when they ask you what you are reading on your Kindle, and you’d prefer to tell them “Oh, I’m just reading a book about stock market analysis,” rather than the usual “Oh, I’m just looking at pics of my ex-girlfriend on Facebook.” For these reasons and more, check out my book, Beating Wall Street with Common Sense. I don’t have a degree in finance; I have a degree in neuroscience. You don’t have to predict what stocks will do if you can predict what traders will do and be one step ahead of them. I made a 400% return in the stock market over five years using only basic principles of psychology and common sense.
