Economists who had been speculating that the sluggish U.S. May jobs report was simply an outlier are feeling quite vindicated on Friday. The U.S. economy bounced back in a major way in June by adding 287,000 jobs, well above consensus expectations of 175,000. The unemployment rate rose slightly more than expected to 4.9 percent.

Spinoffs Are Outperforming Parent Companies

In a recent tweet, CNBC Senior Markets Commentator Michael Santoli pointed out how WhiteWave Foods Co WWAV 0.9% stock is now up 215.8 percent since its May 2013 spinoff from parent company Dean Foods Co DF 1.77%, which is down 5.9 percent over the same period.
