5 GoPro Innovations Since Its Last Earnings Report

Although it’s only been three months since last earnings season, innovative companies like GoPro Inc GPRO 11.77% are always launching new cutting-edge technology and ideas.

Here’s a list of five GoPro innovations since the company’s last earnings report:

Drones

In November, the Wall Street Journal reported that GoPro is developing drones equipped with high-definition cameras. The drones are expected to be launched in late 2015 and cost anywhere from $500 to $1000 each.

GoPro Channel

In January, GoPro announced a new GoPro Channel app for LG Smart TVs. The channel will offer themed playlists and other featured videos created with GoPro cameras around the world.

GoPro Fetch

In late December, GoPro announced a new camera mount for dogs called the GoPro Fetch.

Now, GoPro users can use the GoPro Fetch to see if their pets have what it takes to be the world’s first canine version of Martin Scorsese. GoPro Fetch looks to revolutionize the world of high-definition digging, scratching and licking.

New HERO4 Features

In February, GoPro announced updates to its HERO4 Black and HERO4 Silver cameras that added cutting-edge new features.

The new time lapse mode feature allows users to shoot time-lapse videos without post-production hassle, the 30/6 burst photo feature allows users to capture 30 photos in 6 seconds with one click, and the auto rotate feature enables cameras to self-adjust their orientation when mounted upside-down.

On-Ice Cameras

In January, GoPro announced a new partnership with the NHL to give fans an unprecedented view of hockey games. Starting at this year’s NHL Skills Competition and All-Star Game, players and referees were given the option of wearing mounted GoPro cameras during the action.

It’s possible not all of these innovations will end up being hits, but the company’s spirit of outside-the-box thinking is part of what made it the success it is today.
