UFC Champion Too Violent For Wal-Mart

Arguably the world’s most dangerous woman, the undefeated UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey is reportedly a little too dangerous for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. WMT 0.32%. According to a recent announcement, the retail giant will not be carrying Rousey’s new book “My Fight/Your Fight” when the book hits the shelves on May 12 because of the violence associated with Rousey’s fighting career.

Trailblazer

Not only is Rousey a world champion in the UFC only a few years after UFC president Dana White infamously said that women would “never” have a place in the UFC octagon, she was also the first ever American woman to win an Olympic medal in judo at the 2008 Bejing Olympics. Rousey currently sports an 11-0 professional fighting record, and, according to MMARising, she is the top pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world.

Outside The Octagon

Lately, Rousey has expanded her career outside of fighting. The release of Rousey’s new book comes on the heels of her recent appearance at World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. WWE 2.55%‘s Wrestlemania event. Rousey is also flexing her acting muscles in Comcast Corporation CMCSA 0.47%‘s new “Furious 7″ action movie currently in theaters.

In addition, Rousey has upcoming promotional appearances scheduled for “Good Morning America” and “CBS This Morning.”

Wal-Mart Tapping Out

Despite the fact that Barnes & Noble, Inc. BKS 0.77% has already pre-sold thousands of copies of “My Fight/Your Fight” and online customers can pre-order the book on Wal-Mart’s website, the company will not be carrying copies of the book in stores. Publisher Judith Regan fired back at Wal-Mart in response to the decision, telling Page Six, “I’m shocked, shocked to discover that censorship is going on in America!”
