The New England Patriots capped off a historic comeback on Sunday night with an overtime touchdown to beat the Atlanta Falcons 34–28. At one point, the Patriots trailed 28–3, and their comeback was by far the largest in Super Bowl history.

While sports fans were treated to a spectacular game, Americans that enjoy the social side of the Super Bowl also had plenty of things to talk about on Twitter Inc TWTR 5.06%. Here’s a look at 12 of the funniest Super Bowl tweets that tell the story of how the event went down.

Politics was one of the big themes of the night, but partisanship took a time out when George H.W. Bush appeared on the field for the pre-game coin toss.
